The J&M story begins all the way back in 1942, with the opening of a small family butchery in the heart of Sea Point. Over the years, it became synonymous with exceptionally high quality meat, delicious biltong and good old-fashioned family values. We may have outgrown the little butchery and expanded a great deal over the past few decades, but some things have remained exactly the same: we still use only the highest quality meat; we still conduct our business with the very same family values; and our now-famous biltong is still made using the secret spice recipe developed by Mr Joubert and Mr Monty all those years ago.

In 2007, the Joubert & Monty business was sold to Geotina (Pty) LTD as a going concern, along with the trademarks, famous secret recipes and the full staff complement. Geotina, trading as J&M Famous Biltong, now operates 35 J&M biltong stores all over the country. Our Head Office is in Epping Industria, where our 200-strong team works to ensure we stay up-to- date with modern flavours, packaging and branding, while always remaining true to our quality- driven roots.

We are very proud of our factory facility. It’s run to high standards – this goes without saying and is approved and audited by Interek. Our production team is professional, highly-trained and passionate about the business of bringing you only the best products. All our factory staff have undergone intensive training in food handling, safety and hygiene, and our internal quality controller is always on hand to ensure that our policies and procedures are followed to the letter, every single time.
